Sala Thai

Thai food is internationally famous. Whether chilli-hot or comparatively blands, harmony is the guiding principle behind each dish. Thai cuisine is essentially a marriage of centuries-old Eastern and Western influences harmoniously combined into something uniquely Thai. The characteristics of Thai food depend on who cooks it, for whom it is cooked, for what occasion, and where it is cooked to suit all palates. Originally, Thai cooking reflected the characteristics of a waterborne lifestyle.

Love love love this restaurant. It's the best thai I've had in Jax. The waitresses work as a team and they are all so nice and friendly. It's a very casual, comfortable, friendly restaurant with GREAT food. I like the private feeling booths too.

Sala Thai has most Excellent Food & Service. Every dish we have had there over the past 10 years has been exceptional, the last was lunch on 27 February 2009. Having served in Thailand for two years plus subsequent visits, we can attest to the fact that Sala Thai food is authentic and excellent. more

This is one of my favorite restaurant's in Jacksonville. The food is so good, I even have gotten my finicky husband to eat here. Their Pad Thai is the best! They are inexpensive and fast too! One of the best Thai places I have been to. more

I'm surprised I don't see more reviews for this quaint Thai restaurant. As by my previous review, I have been there more than any restaurant I have ever been to.I love the privacy of their pillowed booths. Beware when you order and this is important. If you want to have a beer, some wine, sake or an appitizer and relax a few minutes, do not order your entrees until you want them on the table. Order any drinks or apps first and tell them you haven't decided or want to wait to order entrees. I am cluless how they do this, but when the waitress takes your order and goes into the kitchen, they will nearly immediately come right out with your dinner. I'm telling you, I've been there so many times it happens everytime without exception. After you order, you will have your meal within 2 minutes; faster than the time it takes them to get you a glass of wine. The food is authentic and not like Chinese or Japanese. The fried shrimp appetizer sounds simple but it is awesome. It's not greasy and battered like some Asian places, but a crispy golden brown. You can't go wrong with any entree. Most are served with a huge caldron of rice (for 2 or more) and they'll give you more if you manage the impossible and finish it. The waitresses work as a team and are always available. Be careful, if you look in their direction, they will come to your table. There simply isn't any bad thing to say about this place. Dinner prices start at $9.95.
